Madoff: The Monster of Wall Sttreet
A four-part documentary series chronicling the rise and fall of Bernie Madoff, the Wall Street financier behind the largest Ponzi scheme in history — a $64 billion fraud that shattered the fortunes of countless investors who trusted him as one of the market's most respected statesmen.
Visual Development
Tasked with creating imagery that reflects Madoff's story — a man driven by money and success at all costs, and the FBI investigation that would ultimately bring him down — I started with symbols of these themes and explored ways to combine them into artful, layered compositions where every element carries narrative weight.
A rising stock chart curls into the head of a snake, its numbers repeating into a column of red flags — turning Madoff's "too good to be true" returns into the warning everyone ignored. Elsewhere, cash and banker's boxes swirl around him like a raid in progress, while a gold Wall Street bull atop an overstuffed briefcase distills the scheme into a single icon of greed. A more restrained treatment redacts his eyes against a backdrop of SEC filings and trade tickets, casting him not as a genius, but as a redacted figure in his own case file.
The tone shifts between bold, illustrative metaphor and grittier, evidence-driven realism — building a visual language that reads as both a thriller and an indictment.
